Winter Storm Warning through 5 PM Tuesday
6-12 inches new snow expected
January 2, 2006

The Winter Storm Warnings are coming up and down faster than we can post them. Another Snow Warning is now in effect for western Wyoming for Monday through 5 PM Tuesday with a foot or more of new snow possible in the mountains.

Snow will continue across most of western Wyoming all day Monday. The National Weather Service says this storm will bring heavy snow rates of possibly 1 to 1-1/2 inches per hour in and near the mountains.

Travelers can expect heavy snowfall in the mountain passes with limited visibility and slick roads. Southwest winds of 30-40 mph over South Pass will cause near whiteout conditions at time.

Snowfall of 6-12 inches is expected in western Wyoming including our Upper Green River Valley and the Jackson area. Big Piney to Kemmerer are expected to get from 3-7 inches. Strong winds are also possible. Snow is expected to taper off by late Tuesday afternoon.

Skies are expected to clear by Thursday with temperatures in the 30s for the latter part of the week.
