(Wyoming) The Bureau of Land Management is seeking applications for seasonal fire jobs for the summer of 2006. Numerous seasonal fire positions are now being advertised including firefighting, dispatch, engine and helitack operations. Applications for most fire positions will be accepted through January 30, 2006.
Other available seasonal positions are in the fields of archeology, biology, cartography, engineering, forestry, hydrology, physical science, range, and survey. Equipment operators, maintenance workers, laborers, and park rangers are also needed.
To be eligible for a seasonal position, an applicant must be at least 18-years-old; a citizen of the United States; have a current, valid driver's license; and pass a pre-employment physical. In addition, applicants for fire positions must successfully complete a work capacity test (a three-mile hike over level terrain with a 45-pound pack within 45 minutes) and submit to a drug screening test before they can be hired. Some selectees may be subject to a background check.
Applicants can go online to conduct job searches, create personal electronic resumes and apply for specific positions. The websites will also notify applicants via e-mail when a job they have expressed an interest in is open for application. Duty locations are also identified on these websites.
