Winter Drilling Public Forum Oct 12
To discuss waiving big game winter range and sage grouse restrictions

On Wednesday, October 12, there will be a public meeting Stakeholder Forum in Pinedale to discuss the request to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) by several oil and gas companies to waive big game winter range and sage grouse restrictions on federal lands near Pinedale.
Anschutz, Shell, Ultra and Questar are asking the BLM to waive the restrictions so they can proceed with energy development in the Pinedale Anticline area of the Mesa, south of Pinedale. The forum is sponsored by the operators and is intended to provide information to the public and to solicit comments and concerns from the public.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, October 12, at Rendezvous Pointe Senior Center in Pinedale starting at 6 pm.
In exchange for waiving of the wildlife restrictions, the operators area offering to drill more wells from a single pad, minimize the use of reserve pits, minimize flaring from completions, reduce rig engine emissions, fund wildlife and air quality research and monitoring, minimize crew traffic, onsite and offsite mitigation and support BLLM access station.
During the forum, there will be presentations from the operators and time for questions and answers. At 6:40 pm there will be a presentation on pronghorn antelope research by Dr. Jon Beckmann, Associate Conservation Ecologist for the Wildlife Conservation Society and Idaho State University. At 6:50 pm, Matt Holloran, Senior Research Associate for Wyoming Wildlife Consultants will give a presentation on sage grouse research.
