A Colorado man, 47-year old Dick Tidwell Jr, was killed Friday afternoon, June 22, after falling 90 feet while working on True Rig #9 approximately 10 miles south of Pinedale.

The news release from the Sublette County Sheriff's Office follows below.

Sheriff's officers and Pinedale ambulance service responded to True Rig #9 approximately 10 miles south of Pinedale. Dick Tidwell Jr, age 42, was working in the tower of the rig at about 5:45 p.m. Friday evening when he was apparently releasing a joint of pipe from the board and tried to latch it into the elevator. Tidwell slipped and tried to hold himself up on the elevator for around 1 minute. Tidwell lost his grip and fell approximately 90 feet. Co-workers started CPR and when Sheriff's deputies arrived they also assisted with CPR. Tidwell was transported to Pinedale Clinic where he was pronounced dead.

Dick Tidwell Jr. is from Minturn, Colorado. No autopsy is scheduled. He was apparently killed from the impact of the fall.

Investigation continues, O.S.H.A. has been notified and will conduct further investigation.
