Looking to Fill 3 Positions
WATER RESOURCE AND INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER
Responsible for utilization/ development of water resources: Maintain, develop, utilize existing water rights across 2,300+ acres flood irrigated meadows; efficient water usage monitoring; irrigation infrastructure, healthy in-stream flows; develop storage/irrigation opportunities. Increase forage productivity from 1.0-1.5 tons/acre to 2.0-2.5 tons/acre; oversee harvest of 1,000 acres (existing contract haying arrangement).
Qualifications: Experience managing irrigation, infrastructure, equipment; ranch business reporting, budgeting, planning; hiring/ managing staff.
Optional "plus": B.A. range mgmt., ecology, agri-business, related field.
Compensation/Benefits: Highly competitive salary commensurate with experience. Eligibility in annual cash bonus plan, if goals met; housing or stipend; contribution retirement plan; health benefits; truck; education stipend; 2 weeks paid vacation to start.
IRRIGATION ASSISTANT:
Responsible for provision of water to grazing animals; equipment, infrastructure maintenance; moving water via tarps/slide gates; ensure clear irrigation ditches; winterize irrigation system; handle repairs. Experience in flood irrigation; experience or willingness to learn about grazing systems, forage productivity;
Compensation: Highly competitive wages commensurate with experience, housing or housing stipend.
HERDSMAN:
Responsible for health of grazing animals; identify/doctor sickness; strategic salt/mineral placement for optimum grazing; track daily pasture conditions; construct grazing cells with poly wire in larger pastures/hay meadows; assist in all cattle work (receiving, moving, shipping); equipment/infrastructure maintenance; inform Ranch Manager of supplies needed; equipment repairs identified, reported, resolved. Report directly to Ranch Manager. Experience in identifying & doctoring yearling animals; strong horsemanship, low-stress stock handling & fencing abilities.
