Description:Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Caretaker to manage and maintain an 80-acre off-grid property near Alpine, Wyoming. This unique, live-on-site position is ideal for someone who values independence, enjoys outdoor work, and thrives in a remote mountain setting. The Caretaker will be responsible for property security, infrastructure maintenance, and seasonal operations while living in a provided tiny house powered by off-grid solar energy.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Risk Management

- Maintain a safe working environment by following proper safety protocols for all maintenance and repair activities.
- Identify and address potential hazards on the property, including damaged fencing, water system issues, and environmental risks.
- Exercise caution when operating equipment, particularly the snowmobile during winter months.
- Maintain emergency preparedness given the remote, off-grid location, including knowledge of emergency contact procedures and basic first aid.

Property Security & Monitoring
- Maintain a visible presence on the property to deter unauthorized access.
- Politely address and redirect occasional trespassers in a professional manner.
- Monitor property conditions and report any concerns or incidents to ownership.

Infrastructure & Grounds Maintenance
- Inspect, maintain, and repair perimeter fencing to ensure property boundaries remain secure.
- Mow and maintain areas around wells, valves, and other critical infrastructure.
- Trim willows and manage vegetation growth along fence lines.
- Perform ditch maintenance as needed to support proper drainage and water flow.

Water Systems Management
- Regularly check and maintain on-site water systems during operational months.
- Assist with winterization and de-winterization of water systems as needed (systems are winterized for approximately six months per year).
- Identify and address minor repairs or alert ownership to issues requiring professional attention.

Livestock Management
- Monitor property boundaries during summer and fall months to keep cattle off the property.
- Coordinate with neighboring ranchers as needed to manage livestock issues.

Seasonal & Winter Operations
- Utilize a snowmobile to access and monitor the property during winter months.
- Adapt maintenance routines to accommodate seasonal weather conditions.
- Ensure safe winter access to critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

Required

- Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Experience with property maintenance, fencing, and basic repair work.
- Ability to operate a snowmobile safely and confidently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing property needs.
- Comfortable living in a remote, off-grid environment with limited amenities.
- Must live on-site in the provided tiny house.
- Valid driverfs license.
- Clean background check.

Preferred
- Knowledge of water systems and irrigation infrastructure.
- Familiarity with off-grid living and solar power systems.
- Experience working in rural Wyoming or similar mountain environments.
- First aid and CPR certification.

Reporting Structure This position reports directly to Director of Maintenance

Working Conditions This role requires living on-site at the property near Alpine, Wyoming. The position demands flexibility to respond to property needs year-round, including weekends and occasional emergencies. Work is performed entirely outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, heat, and wind. The provided housing is a tiny house with off-grid solar power, offering basic amenities in a remote setting. Physical stamina and comfort with isolation are essential.
