Sublette County School District #1 Aquatic Center
Information contributed by Dennis Seipp

Update June1, 2007:
The competition pool was filled with 478,000 gallons of water by Friday, June 1. The pool is not ready for swimmers just yet. The temperature is 36 degrees right now. They are hoping to have the competition pool open for swimming in early August.

Update May 18, 2007:
They will begin to fill the competition pool on May 29.

The Sublette County Aquatics Center is more than just a pool. The approximately seventy four thousand square feet houses a competitive pool, a leisure pool, a spa pool, two racquet ball courts, weight lifting room, running track, gymnasium, climbing wall, day care center, and three tennis courts. There are activities available for the entire family on different levels of interest and abilities. A party room will be available for families wanting to use the leisure pools water slide, submarine and current channel and retire to the room for the ice cream and cake. The high school is already scheduling events in the competition pool that will be State Championship level events.

Construction is moving along well, the lap pool sides are set and backfilling behind the pool in preparation for pouring the decks and pool bottom is progressing rapidly. The pool filtration and heating equipment is being installed in preparation for filling the pool. State of the art starting and timing equipment as well as a new scoreboard will be installed prior to the opening. Masonry for the locker rooms is going up and electrical conduit is being run. Most of the rough plumbing is installed and heating and ventilating ducting is in place. The locker room area also includes two private locker rooms for families with small children who may require help in changing clothes.

The leisure pool area is getting closer to being closed in so interior work can begin. Backfilling has begun and foundation work for the water slide tower has started. Some of the leisure pool filtration and heating equipment has been installed.

Structural steel for the walking track is being installed and will be completed right up to the existing pool walls where it will be saw cut through and extended through and back out of the remodeled gymnasium to connect above the lobby area after the existing pool is removed. The walking track can be accessed from the lobby area or from the racquet ball courts located on the second floor. Access to the second floor can be accomplished from stairs at both ends of the lap pool, stairs in the lobby area or by an elevator in the lobby area. A climbing wall is located in the lobby area and should be a challenge to a novice or intermediate climber. The existing pool will be remodeled into a gymnasium that will include basketball, volleyball and tetherball.

Update: January 7, 2007
The Pinedale Aquatic Center is a project being constructed by Sublette County School District #1 through a joint-powers board with the school district, school board and county. The $17 million dollar facility will replace the aging existing pool. It will include a competitive swimming pool and viewing area, a leisure pool, a current channel, a 3-story climbing wall, a running/walking track, two racquetball courts, and a gymnasium which can be used for in-line hockey, indoor soccer and dances. There will also be additional rooms for daycare, classes and parties. The facility is expected to be completed by August, 2007.
The project broke ground in April, 2006.
