Strong Weather Systems forecast
Thunderstorms, hail, strong winds, possible snow
June 5, 2007

The National Weather Service out of Riverton is advising that we may get some severe thunderstorms in the afternoons this week, which could produce strong winds and large hail. The thunderstorms are expected to build up in the afternoons and may continue through the overnight hours.

A strong weather system is expected to move into western Wyoming Wednesday producing scattered thunderstorms and strong winds. Southwest winds of 25 to 40 mph with stronger gusts will occur as the system moves through. This storm brings the possibility of snow in Western Wyoming above 7,000 to 8,000 feet on Wednesday. The Bighorn Mountains of eastern Wyoming could see a late spring snowstorm with 6 to 12 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible over the peaks and north-facing slopes.

Persons planning outdoor activities are urged to monitor current weather conditions and prepare for the possibility of strong storms.
