If it's daytime, and the image at the left is still showing black, this could be what is happening: The Bondurant Ranch webcam relies on a satellite signal to send the image out to the internet. The signal gets blocked when snow accumulates on the satellite dish, located just above the elk horns on the roof top at the Dell Fork Ranch. The photo above is from an earlier year, but it gives you an dea of the technical challenges of keeping this webcam maintained and operational. Can you spot the satellite dish? This is the pesky moose that has been attacking the outdoor thermometer and knocking it down (Dec. 07). "Maybe she will quit now that there is hay in the yard," Paul Ellwood said.

The Bondurant Ranch Web Cam The webcam is located on the Dell Fork Ranch in Bondurant, Wyoming. A new camera was installed in late March, 2006, which has pan, tilt and zoom capabilities. The zoom and picture position may change periodically to highlight different things within the camera's view. The webcam is controlled by camera administrator Paul Ellwood. The camera picture updates approximately every 5 minutes. See the Bondurant page on Sublette.com for more information and pictures on the area. |
