Range Field Technician
Sublette County Conservation District-located in Pinedale, Wyoming
Join an interdisciplinary team to aid in monitoring and managing rangelands throughout Sublette County, WY! The Sublette County Conservation District (SCCD) aims to promote and maintain healthy rangelands, clean water and air and maintain premier wildlife and habitat. Strong rangeland monitoring and management planning is important to the economy and health of rangelands in the Sublette County. The SCCD Range Technician will work closely with SCCD Range staff to collect data that will aid in management and grazing permit renewal decisions, with private landowners to develop conservation plans, and team up with other SCCD staff to accomplish the many projects underway to conserve and promote Sublette County’s abundant natural resources.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Some knowledge of current rangeland monitoring techniques. Plant ID skills are helpful.
- Ability to work with SCCD staff, agency personnel and private land managers. Excellent communication and relationship skills are mandatory.
- Willingness to learn and ability to be flexible.
- Backcountry and equine handling skills are helpful.
- Computer, software, and technological knowledge and skills expected of natural resource technicians.
- Possess a driver’s license with a clean record.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Assist Range staff with collecting, compiling, and entering data on the rangelands in Sublette County.
- Assist with other district programs as needed.
Full time seasonal position (May through August):
Pay Range: Up to $13.68 per hour.
