Description:The Sublette County Hospital District is currently seeking an Emergency Room Physician for the Pinedale Medical Clinic Emergency Room. The emergency department offers 24/7 emergency services. This position would work eight 24-hour shifts per month. The best candidate for this position should have a strong interest in emergency medicine. This is truly a rural clinic as the nearest hospital is approximately 78 miles away. No OB required.

SCHD complies with the Wyoming Office of Rural Health to allow eligibility for the Wyoming Healthcare Professional Loan Repayment Program. If no funding is available through the Wyoming Office of Rural Health, the Sublette County Hospital District offers its own loan repayment program with a 3-year minimum commitment.

Summary Description:
The physician is responsible to deliver emergency services to the individuals and families within Sublette County Hospital District and those individuals and families that may be visiting Sublette County Health. The physician must be consistent with all standards and protocols of care to direct the evaluation and treatment of patients. The emergency room physician must be familiar with current emergency room standards, procedures, and protocols of care as they apply in a rural environment.

Supervision Received: The physician will report directly to the Administrative Director.

Responsibilities:
1. Collect and document a comprehensive health history, including family history, and social history. Document allergies, previous hospitalization, previous surgeries, previous diagnosis, all medications presently taking and any other pertinent information.

2. Perform a complete physical examination on all new patients as the cause for visit indicates.

3. Provide appropriate medical care for a routine office visit, patient counseling, blood pressure checks and gynecological examinations to include pelvic, pap smear, and breast and rectal examinations.

4. Order and interpret screening and diagnostic tests appropriate to presentation of symptoms.

5. Review, analyze and document objective and subjective data.

6. Create and document a problem list of diagnosis or potential diagnosis.

7. Develop, communicate, and document a plan of treatment for the patient.

8. Prescribe, review, modify and document pharmacological therapy as appropriate.

9. Collaborate through consultation with other health care providers as appropriate and refer the patient for care as needed.

10. Refer for community resources as appropriate.

11. Provide preventative services inclusive of education, screening, and counseling consistent with identified medical needs or health risk profiles.

12. Provide emergency stabilization consistent with patient needs.

13. Perform minor surgical procedures consistent with experience including but not limited to suturing, splint application, and incision and drainage of external abscesses.

14. Documentation of services provided and the diagnosis on the "Super-Bill."

Qualifications:
1. MD or DO designation.

2. Current medical license in the State of Wyoming.

3. DEA number.

4. Eligible for enrollment in federally qualified third-party insurance plans.

5. Eligible for Malpractice coverage.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities as presented on the "Physician Job Description."

2. Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws governing healthcare delivery in the Emergency Department.

3. Knowledge of professional theory, regulations, and practices to evaluate, diagnose and provide appropriate patient care.

4. Skill to identify potential problems and provide resolutions.

5. Skill in identifying objective and subjective symptoms and treating appropriately.

6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.

7. Ability to maintain quality control standards.

8. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

9. Ability to work as a member of the "health care team" and to direct the team as appropriate.

10. Ability to communicate directions clearly and effectively.

Working Conditions:
1. Subject to varying situations including ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively, and sensitively to special population groups, including those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, sexual orientation, economic standing, etc.

2. Frequent contact with a variety of people including prisoners and people with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.

3. Medical office, exam room, laboratory, radiology, emergency room and professional practice settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to rural clinic environments.

4. May require travel between District sites.

Physical Demands:
Varied activities including moving, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling, moving, positioning, and transporting patients. Also requires manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and moving for extensive periods of time. Occasionally moves items weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. This position frequently requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Year-round highway travel between clinics and other facilities throughout the district is required.
