| Update
              May 31,
              2007: BLM
to open to the public Friday, June 1 The
Pinedale BLM building will open to the public on Friday, June 1st.
They are now housed in the Stromness Building at
1625 West Pine Street/US Hwy 191 on the west end of Pinedale. Construction is
still occuring in the parking lot, so there may be limited parking
available. Visitors may need to park in the vacant lot across the
highway between the AmeriHost Inn and Rocky Mountain Home Center
and walk over. The BLM hopes to have the parking lot completed
in the next couple of weeks, by mid-June. The BLM apologizes for
              the inconvenience.
 Update
                May 29,
                2007: Still
not open to the public yet As
of Tuesday, May 29, the new building still isn't open to the public
yet. They have one phone at the new location, 307-367-5303. The
old building has a staff person present to handle walk in visitors,
however there is no phone at that location. Phone calls to the
Pinedale BLM 307-367-5300 number are being redirected to the Rock
                Springs BLM office.
 Update April 25,
                2007: Sublette County Conservation
                DistrictWhile
we've been focusing on the Bureau of Land Management for these
construction updates, a couple of things need to be clarified and
pointed out. Technically, the name of this building is the "Stromness
Building" and it actually has two structures related to it. The
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Natural Resources Conservation
District (NRCS) will share the larger building, housed on opposite
ends. The Sublette County Conservation District offices will be
housed in the in the smaller building behind the main building.
The public will be able to walk in and reach all three entities
via the reception area in the main building. The Conservation District
is scheduled to move into their new offices on May 23rd.

              2007:The
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Pinedale will close its East
Mill Street location the week of May 7th to relocate into their
new location in the Stromness Building on the west side of Pinedale.
The office will be open March 14th at the new location with limited
ability and expects to be fully operational by the 15th. The
new location will be at 1625 West Pine Street in Pinedale.

The Rock Springs BLM will receive emergency calls for the Pinedale
BLM during the week of May 7-14. “The Pinedale BLM phone and computer systems will
down during that week as they move the office from one location to the other,” said
Dennis Stenger, Pinedale BLM field manager.

“We are asking for anyone needing to conduct business with the Pinedale
BLM office to make arrangements before May 7 or after May 15. If an emergency
arises, contact the Rock Springs BLM and speak to employee at (307) 352-0256
from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. If it’s after hours or on weekends,
call the same number and leave a message,” said Rey Adame, Pinedale BLM
public affairs officer.

While the Pinedale BLM anticipates being functional on May 15th, there will
be continued work to the parking area and landscaping through the summer. The
BLM expects to have an open house later on this summer. “We will make this
transition as smooth as possible. We appreciate the public’s patience and
support,” Stenger added.

For more information, contact Rey Adame in the Pinedale BLM office at (307) 367-5349.
 Update: March
                    9 , 2007:Presently there
is only one crew working on the BLM building, doing framing and
drywall hanging and taping. Engineered Steel Structures out of
Salt Lake City has a 7-man crew working throughout the interior
          of the building.
 Update:
                    January 27,
                    2007:Workers
have the green metal roof on.  Temperatures have "warmed up" a
bit for workers who have been spending considerable time outside
up on the roof in the wind and cold. Daytime temperatures have
been between 15 and 20 degrees. Add wind to that, and the effect
can quickly drop back down to negative numbers. These workers have
been going from dawn until dark, working weekends too.  Recently,
developers who own the property behind this building, went before
the Pinedale Town Council to present their plans for a 230-acre
mixed-use subdivision. That development would have commercial
space, apartments, town-homes, a mobile home park, storage units
and single-family homes. There would also be a walking path network
throughout the area. That development would be to the left of this
          picture and behind the building.
 Update: January 16,
              2007:Visible
outside work continues getting the metal roof on.  Workers
must work outside in the frigid cold (daytime temperatures have
been between 0 to -35 degrees for the past several days), with
windchills dropping the temperature even further. There is also
snow on the roof to contend with and work around
 Update: January
              7, 2007:The
new Pinedale Bureau of Land Management office is being constructed
on the west end of Pinedale on the north side of US. Highway 191.
It is just west of the Highway Patrol building and and across the
highway from Rocky Mountain Home Center. The new building is replacing
the BLM's facility which is now on the southeast side of Pinedale.
The building is called the Stromness Building.
 The new structure will give
          the BLM more square
footage, add a larger meeting room and two training room, have a larger
GIS room and provide needed storage space for proprietary files. The
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will also have office
space inside the building A separate building outside will
house and the Sublette County Conservation District offices. Construction on the new facility
began in May, 2006, and is expected to be completed
    in the spring of 2007. |      |
