OBJECTIVES
To give the meningitis vaccination to every graduating/college-bound high school senior in Wyoming, optional and free of charge.

GOALS
To build an endowment so the interest will pay the $60 vaccination and education for 6,050 Wyoming seniors, every year.

McKenzie Hartwig attended high school in Pinedale, Wyoming and graduated in 2001. McKenzie was a beautiful, vibrant 18-year old, who was a Wyoming All State in Volleyball, Basketball and Track in 2001. She was an honor student. She was a freshman at the University of South Dakota on a volleyball scholarship.

In August, 2001, while attending a volleyball tournament in North Dakota with her college teammates, she suddenly became ill and died that same evening.

McKenzie died of a
vaccine-preventable disease!

The CDC recommends that colleges inform incoming freshmen about meningococcal meningitis and the availability of a safe vaccine.

The McKenzie Meningitis Foundation seeks to promote awareness of the dangers of meningococcal meningitis and to help high school seniors be vaccinated against the disease.
